Instalación de Mandriva 2006.0 en HP nx6120 (EL170LA#ABM)

Esta ha sido mi experiencia instalando Linux, distribución Mandriva 2006.0 en la laptop Compaq nx6120 (EL170LA#ABM).

Espero que le sirva a alguien.

Listado de características que funcionaron al momento de instalarse:

• Control de brillo del monitor


• Puerto firewire (los módulos están cargados pero no lo he probado)

La tarjeta inalámbrica es una intel pro wireless, el módulo es ipw2200 y el firmware lo bajé desde
aquí. El módulo es open source pero es inútil si no se tiene el firmware de Intel.


La suspensión a RAM funcionó con hibernate utilizando la siguiente línea de comando:

/usr/sbin/hibernate -F /etc/hibernate/ram.conf

El archivo

/etc/hibernate/ram.conf

no se modificó, es el que trae por omisión la distribución. No fue necesario el uso de vbetool.

Para que la laptop se suspenda a RAM cuando se baja la tapa, coloqué la línea

/usr/sbin/hibernate -F /etc/hibernate/ram.conf

al final del script

/etc/acpi/actions/lm_lid.sh

Los botones de audio no los he utilizado, sin embargo, en otras páginas han reportado que funcionan con GNOME.

El lector de SD/MMC no funciona con el kernel de caja de Mandriva 2006.6, sin embargo el módulo existe, lee y escribe SD y MMC y vendrá con la distribución Mandiva 2007.

De cajita, la laptop presentaba un problema al mandarla a reiniciar o al mandarla a apagar, así que investigando por google encontré que había que colocarle la siguiente opción en el

/etc/lilo.conf

reboot=b

como parámetro pasado al kernel


Para finalizar, me parece una laptop excelente para usarla con Linux
